Kitty cat date

I am so pleased to unveil the very first Twin Cat Vintage video clip. My extremely talented partner-in-crime Chase Burns filmed this for us while we were on location shooting exciting new photos for another upcoming project!

I hope you all enjoy this video, it is the first of what I hope is many more to come.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in making this happen! xoxo

Follow the buyer

Image Credit - Scott Stephenson for LuisviaRoma

I would like to take a few seconds to applaud and congratulate (with a heart stuffed full of envy of course) my friend Scott who recently won the coveted Follow the Buyer competition with this very ensemble. He left our sunny suburban shores only a couple of months ago to pursue his dream of fashion styling in London, and already he is sitting front row at Rick Owens at Paris Fashion Week (you could actually see Anna Wintour from his tweeted happy snap). Judging from his recent tweets and updates, he has been to Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, Viktor & Rolf, Preen, Haider Ackermann, Lanvin and so many more.

I have never met a person before who I believed more strongly in than Scott, as I remember his diligent working at both primary and high school, and I could never get over his ability to save his hard-earned teenage pennies for months and months on end in order to buy just one brilliant designer item. (Scott has always been the best dressed guy on the train). He is going to be massive and this opportunity is just a stepping stone for what I am absolutely positive will be an incredible career.

Scott on this outfit:
“A look of modern sartorial charm in the form of foam-bonded wool, latex, heat-treated cashmere, bare ankles and panelled sleeves.
Gallant but soft-spoken.
Structured and languid.
Masculine and feminine.
Yes, I managed to pile all of this onto my lithe, 6ft 1″ frame!

This is the guiding path of fashion, a combustible combination of the tailored past and a laser-cut future!
Just don’t ask me to sit down, Mr. Ghesquiere really did not consider that when making these trousers; it’s quite the challenge!

Hear the bells

The other day I had the pleasure of assisting my boyfriend Chase (Vimeo) on his music video shoot for local superhero Chelsea Wheatley aka “Bells”. Having fronted the band The Gingers for awhile, this is Chelsea’s new solo project and she is most definitely going to kick arse. I managed to get some sneaky phots of the she-dog in action and will be doing more shooting with her in the future. Chelsea sports the exact hairdo that I have been lusting over for awhile, and having seen it on her, I’m now convinced. =) Stay tuned for the finished video clip. Chelsea’s MySpace.

Every picture

A few things sitting on my hard drive that are inspiring me tonight!

Rumi (Fashion Toast) for winter. Freakin love this girl’s style. I am particularly fond of the vintage Nirvana t-shirt paired with the chunky silver statement necklace.

A great pair of trousers. Enough with the leggings, this is so much classier.

Kristin (Bleach Black) and the double leopard. I guess if you’re wearing such amazing Chanel shoes it doesn’t matter what the rest of your outfit looks like. However, not many could get away with this much fierce.

White hair (and cheeky t-shirts)

Perfectly fringed hair (and gorgeous vintage sequins)

Watching enough Studio Ghibli to last a lifetime - my absolute favourite movies ever.

And 500 Days of Summer… the “Penis” game, which I recall playing many times, oh so fondly.

Hope you all had a splendid weekend! xx

A horse is not a home

Dress, sunglasses& bag (vintage), Shoes (Lipstik)

My boyfriend took these portraits of me today while we were waiting for our tram in South Yarra. They’re not really outfit-post photos, but I just love how the light captures the feeling of the day.

It was one of those wonderfully perfect days where every direction you turn, you feel inspired. From the exhibition we visited at ACMI on Dennis Hopper and his incredible career in both film and the art world (there were works by Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Roy Lichtenstein and Marcel Duchamp to name but a few), to the time we spent browsing the endless racks of beautiful vintage clothing in Retrostar - I know, I can’t believe I still browse even when I’m not on a “buying trip”. Then we made time to stop off for everyone’s favourite “budget lunch” at Hare Krishna, and spent the afternoon letting our imaginations wander through the shelves of thought-provoking and inspiring books and magazines at Metropolis.

I had so much self-control and only splashed out on a copy of “The Sartorialist”, which I have been meaning to get my paws on. It didn’t disappoint.

It’s so nice to be able to stop and have such a lovely and relaxed day with the sun shining and a faint breeze in the air, while the rest of the city works away behind doors and computer screens.

Pull yer socks up

Tee (American Apparel), Skirt (Vintage), Boots (Vintage), Necklace & Bag (Mimco)

I wish someone had told me to pull my socks up.

While the rest of the world is currently getting to enjoy the season of thigh high platform boots, it’s still hot days here in Melbourne and the closest I can get to jumping onto this trend is via thigh high socks - which in these photos are more like knee highs. I took advantage of today’s 23C degree weather to pull out the winter woolies, though it has since heated up and has left me feeling a little bit silly. Kudos to my mum too, for attempting to challenge her reputation as World’s Worst Photographer.

Where the wild things are

Wildfox Couture

Wildfox Couture kills it again. Such simple concepts and such similar LookBook shoots every time, but my God, they’re fucking fantastic.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a label’s editorials blogged and re-blogged by girls around the world, so many times. I guess what people love is how accessible the clothing, the styling and the models are.

Venus in furs

Sequin Top (vintage), Scarf (Chanel), Leather shorts (H&M Tokyo)

I suspect that no matter how hard I try, I always look like I’m wearing the same outfit whenever I go out. Black, black, black with a dash of sparkles and a good measure of leather. I would have to say this is my favourite top, just one of those pieces that you can always throw on and feel glamorous without going to too much effort. Rachel Zoe, with these hooker heels and the best $8 vintage top to ever be found, you would be proud.

Beetlebum

Acid Wash DIY Studded Shirt (Vintage), Black Lace Cami (Vintage), Sequin Hotpants (H&M Japan)

No longer just for the punk at heart, I bet StudsandSpikes.com thought they had won the jackpot when DIY studding became the most popular thing since sliced bread. I picked this delightfully soft and worn acid-wash shirt up from the Blackbird Markets over the weekend and went to town with dome studs. I look like I am wearing no pants, but I promise I am, albeit small ones.

Come on over baby

Tallulah Morton in Oyster Magazine (Photos from Kicks and Threads)

Bright, chameleon dip-dyed hair colours. First was the crazily blogged Abbey-Lee for Vogue Australia, and now Tallulah for Oyster. A direct copy or not, both photo editorials are making me want to dip-dye the ends of my own hair like I’m 14 again and watching Christina Aguilera shake her white flared legs in the Come on Over Baby video clip. Remember this? Mum wouldn’t let me go all rainbow bright back then, but now that I’m a little bit older (and clearly none the wiser)…
